By integrating genome sequencing, bioinformatics, comparative genomics, and functional experiments, we investigate how microbial traits emerge, spread, and can be controlled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Current projects include bacterial plasmid biology, emerging hospital pathogens, foodborne bacteria, and endosymbiotic microbes such as&nbsp;Wolbachia&nbsp;for vector control applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We provide interdisciplinary training for students in genomics, microbiology, computational biology, and scientific communication. Antimicrobial Resistance and Mobile Genetic Elements<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We investigate how plasmids, integrative elements, and regulatory genes drive the emergence and spread of antimicrobial resistance. Our work focuses on the evolution of transferable resistance determinants and their impact on bacterial fitness and pathogenicity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Emerging Pathogens and Outbreak Genomics<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Using whole-genome sequencing and comparative genomics, we study the transmission, adaptation, and persistence of clinically important pathogens, including hospital-associated outbreaks and newly emerging bacterial lineages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Host\u2013Microbe Interactions and Functional Regulation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We explore how microbes regulate virulence, stress responses, and host adaptation through transcriptional networks, mobile regulators, and genome plasticity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4.
